The Outlook Ethical Charter

Our Ethical Charter is a collection of our values and a series of promises that we have made to our customers, the environment and the communities we work in.

Outlook was founded on strong ethics that continue to shape the way we work today. We want to be successful while remaining environmentally and socially aware so we always try to do the right thing, for our staff, for our customers and for the people and places we visit.

We believe that travel promotes awareness and awareness drives action. We want to make sure that as well as being safe, challenging and fun our expeditions make a positive difference to each individual and the world around them as they continue on their journey through life.

We have taken steps towards becoming a more sustainable business by making the impact of our operations neutral. By continuing to support sustainable overseas projects and nurturing a global awareness among our participants we ultimately hope to have a positive impact on the world.

Our commitment to customer service

  • Each school will be assigned their own Expedition Programme Coordinator to help guide them (teachers, students and their parents) through the process and to take as much of the burden away from the teacher as possible.
  • Leader Guarantee: each school will meet their leader prior to departure, and should they be dissatisfied and the issues cannot be resolved, we guarantee to replace them.
  • Our all-inclusive price reflects the Tailor-Made itinerary designed for you. This ensures that the price we present at the launch of an expedition is the only price you will pay.
  • Our dedicated Customer Service Manager is on hand to efficiently resolve any issues you may have.
  • You will have your own Account Manager who will review the progress of your expedition and your relationship with Outlook at key times during the year.
  • We aim to give people the opportunity to develop themselves and each other. Our Link Teachers are provided with training opportunities to ensure that they develop their own skills for the benefit of their students.

Our commitment to the environment

  • In 2008 we became the first, and remain the only, CarbonNeutral® expedition provider.
  • To offset our carbon emissions we support ‘climate friendly' projects sourced by the CarbonNeutral Company.
  • We offset ALL Leader Team expedition carbon emissions (inc. flights, accommodation, transport)
  • We recycle as much of our waste as possible. This year we have saved over 50,000 litres of waste from landfill.

Our commitment to the communities we work in

  • We plan our projects with care and work collaboratively with the local community in advance to identify their needs.
  • Our projects are sustainable and are designed to be a shared experience where there is mutual benefit for all involved.
  • We want the communities we travel through to benefit from our visits to them whether this is by means of project work or the use of locally owned and run services and produce.
  • Our projects are chosen for their ability to allow participants to leave a worthwhile legacy.
  • Our project providers are chosen for their honesty, transparency and commitment to their work.
