Border Collies and Binocular Football

Posted on 24 / 03 / 2010

Ever since I've been a grown up (I think I class as one of those now) I've always wanted a dog.  In particular a Border Collie.  We had a Collie when I was little and she was ace.

So when our Head of Business Development and numero uno laptop starer Iwan, told me about his farmer friend and his Border Collie puppies who were all being drowned if they couldn't find homes I was away on a puppy mercy mission.

You would think by now, I would know better than to believe Iwan and you will be pleased to know that no puppies have or will be harmed in this story, however we took a little Outlook trip down to the farm one lunch time (myself, Iwan, Client Accounts Manager Steve, Planner Anna and EPC assistant Kylie) and it was love at first sight.

Eira (which is Welsh for snow) is moving in with me at Easter and I can't wait.  Because we work in such a great spot she'll be able to come to work with me, have a sleep in the car for a couple of hours and go for lots of nice walks around the fields and down by the Menai Straits at lunchtime.  As she's a Border Collie she's also going to love my outdoors lifestyle walking in the mountains, playing on the beach and going for runs with my housemate and fellow Outlooker Chris.  Hopefully she's even going to get in a canoe.

I've suggested that she sits in the Marketing office and assists Kate and I with our work, but no joy with this so far, apparently she doesn't have the necessary Microsoft Office skills and is too young to make tea unsupervised.

On another note, which is nothing to do with Eira or dogs at all, Steve showed me this brilliant clip the other day.  Watch it, it will brighten up even the worst day.

And if that wasn't enough, here's a picture of Eira and I when I borrowed her for the day last weekend.  Everyone together, ahhhhh.
