The Expedition Planning Team certainly are a load of jet setters. As soon as we get one back (Tamsin returned from Namibia this week), more set off in their place!
Chris Baker is currently checking out Laos and Cambodia while Anna Burn is in Romania. Steffan Huws is also away on recce in Peru and Bolivia and Stephanie Johnson will soon be off to Ghana. Phew! The rest of the Outlook Team are more than a tad bit jealous it has to be said.
As much as we like to tease them that they're just off on their jollies, soaking up some sun, these recces are actually an absolutely crucial element of our safety procedures. The whole point of a recce (or reconnaissance visit) is to visit the destinations that our groups will be visiting before they do. While they are there, our Expedition Planners try out potential treks, visit projects, meet with in-country contacts and test out the transport links to ensure that our expeditions are as well planned as they possibly can be. So we do have to admit (grudgingly) that they are busy bees while they are out there!
We try to get them to do a bit of blogging while they are away too, so the next time they check in we'll put some of their exciting news on the blog to give you a taste of what they've been up to.
