India(na) Stones!

Senior Expedition Planner, Ed Stones, has returned from checking out India-Himalaya this week and has been turning everyone green with envy with his tales of high altitude peaks, exciting 4x4 rides and time spent in timeless villages wrapped in colourful prayer flags.

The information that Ed has brought back and the contacts he has made have got everyone very excited about sending teams out to experience the fantastic opportunities that this area has to offer.  These could include projects constructing solar passive housing and vegetable growing greenhouses or improving conditions at a school where the children sit on concrete floors in sub zero temperatures.

Trekking opportunities range in length and difficulty and most cross 4500m passes with peaks topping 6000m looming all around.

With such great contrasts as the hustle and bustle of Delhi and the peaceful aura of Buddhist monasteries, combined with the history of the Taj Mahal and the Red Fort, India Himalaya really does seem to have a piece of it all.

In Ed's words ‘...it's been one of my most enjoyable recce trips. The hospitality, Himalayan landscape, amazing food and good level of English all combine to make India a great destination for youth expeditions'

So, welcome back Ed and we look forward to hearing from the next member of the Expedition Planning team to return from a destination with more exciting opportunities... what a job!
