Morocco Magic!

8 teams from Guildford, Shropshire, East Yorkshire and Cambridge embarked on expeditions to Morocco.  The feedback we have received from participants, Link Teachers and Leaders has been brilliant and it sounds like they really did have the time of their lives as well as developing skills such as self reliance and team work.

Whilst some teams chose a technical expedition, others immersed themselves in the culture, travelling through Berber villages and getting involved in projects, working alongside the locals to help improve irrigation systems.  Good irrigation systems mean that fields can be kept watered and locals can earn money selling crops and vegetables which can in turn keep their families in good living conditions.  The teams from East Yorkshire who were involved in the project cleaned tanks, dug and concreted new channels and helped in road construction. This is a new project for Outlook and one that looks like being extremely beneficial in supporting the local community as well as giving teams the opportunity to give something back.

Trekking was a big focus for all groups with 7 out of 8 teams choosing to go for and reaching the 4167m summit of Mount Toubkal.  With beautiful blue skies to compliment trekking in the amazing landscape of the Atlas Mountains, the 8 teams covered a combined estimated distance of around 560km! With great Moroccan food and plenty of Mint tea to keep them going the participants rose to the challenge and were rewarded with not only great views but an amazing sense of achievement.

Following all this effort the teams took some time to relax - enjoying a hot bath in the Hammam, bartering in the souks (apparently some participants were very good at this!) and getting their hands painted with Henna.

Well done to all those who worked hard to go on expedition, overcame obstacles, supported others and challenged themselves.  We hope the fantastic memories will stay with you for many years to come and you are inspired to explore the world further in the future and have more exciting adventures.
