Outlook Expeditions supporting the Comic Relief Desert Trek

Posted on 21 / 02 / 2011

As I mentioned in my last blog piece, as expeditioners we always like to get behind personal expeditions - especially those taking place to raise funds for a good cause.

So, this week are thoughts are with the team of 9 celebrities who are raising money for comic relief by trekking 100km across the inhospitable Kaisut Desert in Northern Kenya.

The BT Red Nose Desert Trek will raise money for Comic Relief projects which benefit deprived people across Africa and in the UK. The team will be highlighting the issue of sight and the money they raise will prevent thousands of people in Africa from going blind or contracting eye conditions.  By sponsoring the effort just £5 you can help pay for a simple eye operation that could restore a persons sight.

This expedition is particularly special to us at Outlook as it includes one of the extended Outlook family!  This is what Lorraine Kelly, whose daughter went on an Outlook Expedition with her school said to Outlook when we wished her luck!

'I am really looking forward to the challenge. My daughter Rosie  did a trek to Peru last summer and she has been giving me invaluable tips about what kit to bring and how to avoid blisters.

She had a wonderful  life enriching experience and I am hoping it will be the same for me in Kenya.'
We've all got out our phones here at Outlook, and sent a text to add to the total raised - please do too!
