Outlook would like to say a huge thanks to SITR again this year for their generous donation of re-conditioned laptop computers to support many of our projects around the world.
For the 3rd year running many of our groups will be carrying laptops as additional donations for projects which have been identified as ones who would really benefit from additional IT resources. Many of our projects are education based and Outlook participants will have the opportunity to share their wealth of IT knowledge with children and adults as far as Borneo in Asia, Madagascar in Africa, and Peru in South America.
SITR (Secure IT Recycling) is a company based in Cheshire. They collect IT equipment from UK wide businesses and schools in order to recycle or dispose of them securely. However, those laptops which are not ready to enter the silicon graveyard are re-conditioned, loaded with licensed copies of Windows and generously donated to Outlook projects. All the laptops which we have received are carried in cases which are also donated by SITR.
From the feedback we have received from our project partners all over the world, this additional donation has been very well received and there are people everywhere who are keeping up with the fast devloping world of IT thanks to the support of SITR.
Below is a letter from a grateful recipient in the community of Mwandi, Zambia:
My name is Fridah Malake and I am the one Paula Van Zyl donated the Compaq computer that you donated to her.
I am a 24 years old female student I m at LIVINGSTONE INSTITUTE OF BUSSINESS AND ENGINEERING STUDIES (LIBES) and I am in my last year of Institute of management for information studies (IMIS) DIPLOMA. Paula, Matt and two other donors have put me through this college.
I have been doing so well, & promising again to do more than ever. I was facing hardships with my work due to lucky of a laptop, fortunately God whispered to someone (you people) to help me, am really glad because my work has been made so easier.
Specifically I use the laptop, in the subject called programming or visual basic (vb) to do the coding of a programme and other related practical fields. "I'm hoping one day I will be a programmer" I really appreciate your sacrificial & hope this will not mark the end of helping whenever there is a needy somewhere.
I understand the teacher from the group brought it all the way from the UK on her back I am so grateful to her and to you for your generous donation.
May the good Lord richly & abundantly BLESS you ALL.
Sincerely
Fridah Malake
