Link Teacher Training
We work with teachers from an array of subject and experience backgrounds; some are seasoned expeditioners, others have never done anything like this before. Regardless of your personal experience, our training programme is designed to ensure that you develop the skills that you need to become an effective and confident member of the expedition Leader Team. At the end of the expedition you will have developed a portfolio of valuable, transferable and technical skills that you will be able to take back into your school and use to enhance your CV.
Our Link Teacher training falls into two categories: compulsory training and development training.
Compulsory training
Compulsory training is just that: free training that all of our Link Teachers must complete. We would not send our Link Teachers out on expedition unprepared; this training ensures that a Link Teacher is clear about their role and has the essential skills needed to perform it. Training will be delivered through a combination of attendance at an Outlook Regional Conference (all Link Teachers) and completion of an expedition focused REC level 2 first aid course ( 1 Link Teacher per expedition group).
Development training
Development training is optional training that is offered to the Head Link Teacher in a school. To support our Link Teachers’ professional development we are able to offer opportunities to complete additional industry leading training courses through our partnership with the National Mountain Centre, Plas y Brenin. Head Link Teachers will be given credits when their expedition is launched that can be put towards relevant training of their choice from Plas y Brenin’s suite of courses.
