Getting it right....
As quality is at the heart of everything we do it is vital that we take the time to match the right leader to the right team. We make sure that our leaders have the correct level of qualifications and experience when matching them to a particular destination or itinerary, but we do not stop there. We go that extra mile to make sure that we take into consideration the personalities within the team, so that our leaders can work with them forming those all important team bonds.
We also usually place our leaders at least 4 months prior to departure and they will be encouraged to deliver their own Expedition Development Day, so that they can meet parents and participants to set their minds at rest.
Our Expedition Leaders are also present at the team's expedition training weekend, during which time they will cover areas that include campcraft, cooking, budgeting, hygiene, use of specialist safety equipment and first aid. The importance of this weekend is paramount in allowing our Expedition Leaders to build strong relationships with the team, whilst discovering their strengths and weaknesses.
Prior to departure (usually the day before) our leaders spend at least 4 hours with their team as part of their final preparation arrangements and their relationship with the team continues after the expedition through our Skills Refresher Day. Delivered by the Expedition Leader this optional session provides the team with the opportunity to reminisce, review and look forward to how they can consolidate those newly developed skills.
