How to Tailor Make your Expedition

Think of our expeditions as a jigsaw; we help you select the right pieces and slot them together to create the perfect expedition - tailored for you.

1. Choose your UK Build Up

To guarantee quality, Outlook provides Standard Training for every team. This involves the delivery of training led by your appointed Expedition Leader and a full time member of the Expedition Planning Team. We believe that working with these people prior to departure is essential for the success of the expedition.

Link Teachers can choose to add Optional Training days to their Standard Training. If you are an experienced Link Teacher or your itinerary is straightforward you may choose to include fewer training days; if your build up is longer or your expedition needs greater preparation we can also cater for this.

2. Choose your destination

Outlook offers an unrivalled 82 expedition destinations but don't stop there; we've sent teams all over the globe but we never stop exploring so why should you? After all, everyone has different desires and dreams.

If you're interested in a destination that we haven't yet sent a team to:

  1. Talk to us about your expedition ideas.
  2. Our experienced Expedition Planners will take on all your ideas, research them, talk to people living there and seek advice from organisations like the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
  3. If we think that it's safe to travel to and we can meet your requirements then a member of our team will travel to the destination, check it out and create a brand new itinerary for you.

3. Choose your duration

Our suggested itineraries vary from 7 to 35+ days but your itinerary may be shorter or longer...your choice!

 4.    Choose your departure period

Although our expeditions generally depart during the school summer and Easter holidays and the February, spring and October half terms, you may want to travel at a different time of year, perhaps during term time if your expedition has a curriculum support objective.

 3.    Choose your objectives

Just like our UK build up, expeditions have standard and optional elements. Every expedition arrives and every expedition departs; this is all that's standard about our expeditions. The time in-between is yours to tailor by choosing what you want from objectives which are detailed on the Objectives page of the website.

 3.    Choose your extras

Put the finishing touches to your expedition by adding optional extras to make your life easier:

  • Regional flights (most expeditions depart from London Heathrow)
  • Coach transfer to the airport
  • Additional specialist training delivered by Plas y Brenin e.g. you may be pursuing a sea kayaking itinerary and feel that your group could benefit from increasing their skills prior to the expedition

  4. The Future

Outlook believes that the end of the expedition is not the end of the experience, in fact it's the very start.  Participants will benefit from many new skills and job and university applications will stand out - we may see participants back as leaders in future years!
