Participants
Who can go on expedition?
Outlook offers expedition opportunities to participants aged between 13 and 18 years old. Our Shorter Journey expeditions are suitable for participants aged between 13 and 18 within the academic year within which they go on expedition. Our Longer Journey expeditions are suitable for participants aged 15 or over within the academic year within which they go on expedition.
How many participants go on expedition?
A minimum of 9 participants are required to form an expedition group. If necessary, it is possible for Outlook to merge smaller groups together in order to produce a viable expedition group. The maximum group size is normally 17 participants.
The role the participants play - it is their expedition
Each team member will be given the chance to take on key leadership roles on the expedition and will be accountable for important decisions. They will be given the responsibility for the expedition budget and how it is spent, booking the necessary transport, arranging accommodation for the group and organising in-country transfer journeys. Students will experience the freedom of decision making whilst having the security of the Expedition Leader and Link Teacher being there to guide and support them.
Education outside the classroom – the benefits
Expeditions offer the opportunity for young people to experience challenging new activities and diverse cultures. Their participation will enhance their CV and improve their chances of securing a place at university and getting the job they want.
