We know how important your Expedition Leader is. It's essential that you have time to get to know each other and that the personalities within the Leader Team compliment each other.
We believe that Expedition Leaders should see their team outside of their comfort zone before departing, this way they can plan for how individuals may react under pressure, helping to keep them safe at all times and shape their experience so that they can get the most out of it. This is why the team is led by their own Expedition Leader through the training weekend. The Expedition Leader will also spend time at school with the team and parents.
All our Expedition Leaders go through a selection process and hold minimum technical qualifications of a Mountain Leader Award and First Aid. We also require our Expedition Leaders to have experience of developing world travel and working with and developing young people.
We work hard to place our leaders with the right teams and where we believe personalities will match. Our Leader Guarantee means that if the Link Teacher is not happy with their leader, we will always replace them.
We treat our Expedition Leaders as members of the team and know each and everyone individually. Many leaders work for us year after year.
"I would like to thank Outlook and especially Chris (Expedition Planner) for our wonderful itinerary. We all had an amazing time. The main reason for this however is to thank you for finding us an incredible Expedition Leader. Charlie was everything we could have wanted in a leader. I personally think that the expedition wouldn't have been the same without him and I also know that the group are very grateful for everything that he has done prior and during our expedition"
Hannah Blunden - Link Teacher
Our in-country providers are all of the highest quality. There is no middle man and everyone is engaged by and has a direct relationship with the Expedition Planner for the destination.
They all meet the required standards and offer a huge support to both our teams overseas and staff in the UK.
During the summer we also place full time members of the Outlook team in our most population destinations, forming 'hubs' that offer support on the ground when needed.
"Alex has returned with some amazing photos, funny stories, tales of experiences he would rather not repeat, but also with a degree of self-assurance and confidence that he didn't have before. Alex spoke very highly of their expedition leader Greg and the local trek guide Angrup, who Alex said was the nicest man you could ever hope to meet. I enjoyed Greg's presentation at school earlier in the year and was confident that he was a well qualified leader. Please could you pass on my thanks. I would have no hesitation in recommending Outlook to other parents and schools".
