Fundraising is where the expedition experience really begins; bringing the team together as you start to develop some of those essential expedition skills! We know that raising the money for an expedition can seem daunting, but in our experience any young person who wants to go on an expedition can raise the money - as long as they are committed!
Fundraising is a lesson in managing money, record keeping, self-motivation and target achievement. Universities and employers respect the commitment and entrepreneurship that a young person demonstrates in this phase. For these reasons we encourage our participants to fundraising the majority, or if not, the entirety of the amount. We understand that every families financial situation is different and so, want to give every child a chance to live an adventure of a lifetime!
There are two types of fundraising and most people do a mixture of both; Individual Fundraising and Team Fundraising. Take a look around this section of our website where you can find out everything about expedition fundraising and start to develop some creative ideas of your own!
If you have never attempted fundraising before, it can be hard to know where to start. Or perhaps you have loads of ideas but are stuck for practical resources.
We have sent thousands of participants on expedition, and most of them had exactly the same concerns as you!
Our staff are happy to speak to you or your parents to discuss problems, offer advice and reassurance, and most importantly provide some practical resources to either get you started or recover your fundraising plan.
"Since deciding to go to Zambia this year, I've learnt a lot with making the money myself, rather than relying on parents etc - so it's not just life shockers once you're there but you learn life lessons along the way too!"
